The Pioneer Elite TV is the Best TV…Ever?

Lightning might not strike twice, but the Pioneer Elite TV line does. Once known as the best of the best in LCD TVs, Pioneer decided to pull out of the TV market all together. But now only a few years later Pioneer is once again asserting itself as the best.

The new 3D LED LCD sets are available in both in 70 and 60 inch models. While calling this line “elite” might sound like an unkeepable promise, many are in complete agreement saying they are “literally the best-looking LCD TVs ever created.”

Utilizing Sharp Quattron four pixel technology, the Pioneer sets have a full array of LED backlighting, an unbelievable 720 Hz refresh rate and wireless enabled apps. The new TVs will offer the deepest of blacks of any large panel TV.

We have both model is stock at The Sound Room. Even if you are not in the market for a new TV, make sure to get a glimpse of the Pioneer Elite next time you are at our showroom. We guarantee you will not be disappointed.

The B&W Zeppelin Air – Big Sound for a Small Size

What is a Zeppelin without air? Well, that’s exactly what the folks at Bowers and Wilkins were asking themselves when developing the latest generation of Zeppelin music system!

We are not talking about the airships, but instead one of the most advanced docking stations in home entertainment. The Zeppelin sound system’s, long black design mimics the silhouette of the airship, improving upon the already celebrated design and features, namely with the addition of Apple Air.

Now in its third generation, the Zeppelin has moved beyond simple docking. The designers at B&W have incorporated Apple Air, so that users can easily stream music from any part of their home and play it on their Zeppelin. How does this happen? Easy, the Zeppelin now has an internal Wi-Fi which is able to connect with your iPod, iPhone or iPad for easy song selection. Giving you maximum control wirelessly, with better quality than you would experience with Bluetooth.

And the creative geniuses at B&W did not stop there! The Zeppelin might look similar to other generations, but it is in fact much lighter for easy carrying. Then after you turn it on, there is one more hidden surprise…the huge sound.

The many who have reviewed the Zeppelin Air report that it delivers a much bigger sound than you would ever expect from a sound system of that size. There is more bass and the Zeppelin just seems to be louder that past models.

At The Sound Room, we love our Zeppelin Air display and have heard glowing feedback from our customers. If you are looking for a sound system, consider the Zeppelin Air. It is truly a premium product and a great value!

Streaming Pandora with Sonos Brings Rock for Free

When U2 came rolling into town this month, we found something more profound than the band’s claw like stage – the number of people streaming Pandora with a Sonos!

A ticket to the sold out concert would have run you between $32 and $250. But we were hearing from many of our customers that they were creating U2 Pandora stations for FREE and listening to them with their Sonos ZonePlayer.

The Sonos is an all-in-one home audio system which uses an Internet connection to pick up online radio stations. Coming pre-loaded with thousands of stations, with nearly every genre, there is something for everybody.

And if you have that perfect U2 mix of songs from No Line on the Horizon and The Joshua Tree on your MP3, the Sonos can also play those.

A Sonos requires no installation, and can go anywhere in your home, bringing music to any room wirelessly. Sonos can deliver unmatched audio quality making hisses, crackles and hums from interference a past memory. The music will come through without delays and with perfect clarity.

Pandora on the other hand is one of the most popular Internet radio stations available. With only an email address, users can stream up to 40 hours of music a month for free, $36 for unlimited. And users can customize their own radio stations by specific artist or genres.

As great as a Sonos is in the house, it can also be used in other places. In fact a member of our staff was on his way to the U2 concert on a private bus when a friend hooked up his Sonos to play his own U2 Pandora station.

Even if U2 isn’t your first choice in music, Sonos and Pandora have something just for you. To find out more about the Sonos ZonePlayer or how to use Pandora, stop by the The Sound Room and one of our experts can answer all your questions.

The Sound Room Deliver’s Top Value with Name Brands, Competitive Prices and Better Advice

When we tell customers we offer better advice, we mean it at The Sound Room. Over the past few years we have seen a majority of our competition dwindle due to one basic fact – lack of service and attention to the customer.

This month news broke that American was closing all of its stores in the St. Louis area. While having a significant national presence, the brand promise of lower prices just didn’t offer enough to the customer to be sustainable. Their buying power and efficiencies just could not stack up with other big box retailers.

At The Sound Room we focus on what sets us apart. That is our expert staff, name brands and understanding of the local market. By being local we know what consumers want and give them a place to find it. In some cases that means providing products unavailable anywhere else in the St. Louis area. And if we don’t have it, we can get it for any of our many valued customers.

When it comes to price, cheaper does not mean better. When a large retailer is able to hit an unbelievably low price point there is often a good reason why, which isn’t in the customers’ best interest. At The Sound Room better is giving advice on competitively priced products that will work best for you and letting you make a well thought out and informed decision.

If you are looking for new home technology in the St. Louis area, stop by The Sound Room and talk with one of our experts about your next purchase. They have on average more than 10 years of experience and can give you best advice around!

Media Room vs. Home Theater

You may not have noticed it, but there has been a battle going on in the living room. No, it’s not a battle over the remote control, but rather a shifting demand between the media room and home theater. Over the past decade, we have seen a shift go from the home theater, to the media room and back to the home theater again. It’s amazing how quickly trends can change.

What is the difference between the two? Easy, a media room is a family room with a home theater system, usually including a large flat panel TV. Media rooms can come in many different shapes and sizes. A home theater on the other hand is a dedicated room with a large projection screen and Dolby or DTS sound. The seating is also formally set, normally in tiered rows of couches or seats.

And in its return, the home theater is bigger and better than it ever has been before. At The Sound Room we are seeing this first hand with clients seeking more elaborate technology set ups and room designs. One of our most recent installations had a projection screen measuring 150 inches! Bringing new meaning to the term “go big or go home.”

With projectors from companies like Sharp, Runco and Epson, the most recent generation of projectors are much more powerful than in the past. The premium projectors we are installing are capable of delivering a better picture, as well as 3D TV.

While home theaters are getting larger, the price to have one continues to drop. If you are interested in a new home theater or media room, give us a call or better yet stop by our showroom in Chesterfield. We have multiple displays to show you the latest in home theater technology.

Streaming Internet TV and Radio Goes Mainstream in St. Louis

Maybe you’ve heard your friends or neighbors talk about streaming TV shows from HULU, Netflix, AppleTV or Roku. Even if you haven’t, Internet TV is a new and growing way in which millions of people around the world are choosing to receive additional content.

In the past year alone, Internet video watching has risen 45 percent and shows no sign of slowing down. This rapid growth in viewership has led streaming Internet company Netflix to eclipse Comcast in number of subscribers; Meaning that Netflix now has more subscribers than the largest cable company in the country. But before you call to cancel your cable, know that many people are using Internet TV as a complement to other existing services to expand their options.

So, what does that mean for you? This change in the way people receive TV is opening up new ways to get the shows you want, when you want them. In the future, some Internet providers plan to begin producing exclusive content, similar to HBO.

And streaming doesn’t just deliver your favorite shows, it can also stream Internet radio stations straight into your living room. With providers like Pandora, you can customize your own radio station, based upon your preferences in music.

To help our customers venture into streaming Internet TV, we are holding a class on Saturday April 30 from 1 to 3pm to teach the latest in streaming video. Our experts will be able to answer your questions and show you how this new technology works.
