Many people view home automation as giant universal remote control for your home, but it is so much more. Home automation is actually a broad term describing many different systems in your home including whole-house music, intercom, distributed video, networking, security, lighting control, heating and cooling systems, cameras, pool and spa control, gate control, etc. In other words it is a system with controls which makes life simpler, safer, more fun, and saves energy-all at the same time!

The best way to explain this decrease in price is to compare it to another luxury item, the flat-panel TV.  Only ten years ago a 50 inch flat-panel TV could cost as much as $20,000, an amount few could afford.
