Receiving HDTV is now easier than ever, as well. Both the major satellite carriers, DirecTV and DishNet, offer HD programming to their subscribers with the purchase and upgrade of existing equipment. Charter Communications has also made HDTV available to their customers who call and request their HDTV cable box. Charter is carrying many of the local digital stations and does not require the addition of an attic antenna for local HD reception (the satellite carriers do).

High Definition programming is currently available from CBS, NBC, WB, ABC, HBO, Showtime, Discovery HD Theater, HDNet, HDNet Movies and ESPN-HD. Check with your particular service to see which of these is available to you. Other networks that will soon be adding HD stations include Starz!, The Movie Channel, Cinemax, Bravo Playboy and FOX.
